Greetings from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. We welcome all the shortlisted candidates for B. Tech Online Counselling 2022. All the candidates are requested to read the instructions carefully, before participating in the counselling.

The candidates who fulfil the following eligibility criteria can participate in the B. Tech 2022 counselling process:

  1. Candidate should have SMIT Online Test 2022 rank.
  2. Candidates who have appeared (or are scheduled to appear) for 10+2 / A Level / IB / American 12th grade or Equivalent board examination from a recognized board and are waiting for the results, are eligible for the counselling provided they fulfil the criteria given below (in para iii) when their results are declared. Results should be made available to the Admission Cell, SMIT on or before the commencement of classes.
  3. Candidate should have minimum aggregate marks of (≥ 50 % for General, ≥ 45 % for SC/ST/OBC) in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry for B.Tech (ME / Civil) and Physics, Mathematics and any one of the following subject for B.Tech {CSE / CSE (AI&ML) / ECE / EEE / AI&DS / IT}:Computer Science / Electronics / Information Technology / Biology / Informatics Practices / Biotechnology / Technical Vocational subject / Engineering Graphics / Business Studies / Entrepreneurship.


Candidates must login to their application portal using their login credentials to attend the Online counselling as per the counselling schedule given below:

  • Step A : Candidate needs to select their preference of branch by logging into their counselling portal.
  • Step B : As per the preferred branch selected by candidate and their rank, branch will be allotted to him.
  • Step C : After allotment of branch candidate needs to pay the requisite fee in order to confirm their admission on or before scheduled date.
  • Please note: A candidate failing to attend the counselling and failing to pay the requisite fees on the scheduled date and time will forfeit his/her allotted rank/ branch.


To confirm admission you have to pay Rs.1,00,000/- as part of B-Tech First semester courses fee. Payment of remaining part of course fee will be communicated in due course of time. Please note that SMIT is not charging any extra fee as admission/ counselling. Before making an online payment, please read payment instructions carefully (enclosed).

Seat will be allotted as per SMIT Online Test 2022 Rank and subject to seat availability. Candidate failing to attend the counselling on the scheduled date and time will lose his/her allotted rank.


The following candidates are eligible for waitlist.

  1. Registered candidates who have not got the seat as per his/her preference during the counselling.
  2. The candidate can fill preferable branch choices from the list of branches offered. Candidates are requested not to fill in the choices of branches which they are not interested in.
  3. The allotment of seat/branch for waitlisted candidate will be based on SMIT Online Rank.
  4. Once the seat is upgraded as per their choice, candidates have to accept it and they have no choice of retaining the previously allotted seat. For example, if a candidate has been upgraded to Electrical Engineering, from previously allotted branch of Civil Engineering, then the candidate has to accept the Electrical Engineering branch.
  5. Once waitlisted branch is allotted/ confirmed, the payment of fee must be done during the prescribed time limit.
  6. If the seat is not allotted, then the candidate can participate in the next round of counselling (to be notified).


  1. 30% concession on Course fee for B Tech candidates having average PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) percentage 90 and above.
  2. 20% concession on Course fee for B Tech candidates having average PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) percentage between 85 and 90.
  3. 10% concession on Course fee for B Tech candidates having average PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) percentage between 80 and 85.
  4. 10% concession on Course fee to the immediate siblings of SMIT Students (Past/Present) for taking admission in B Tech course.
  5. 20% concession on Course fee for B Tech candidates of Nepal and Bhutan and Bangladesh (SAARC Countries excluding India).
  6. Institute means scholarship. The scholarship will also be applicable to the economically weak students based upon the income of the guardian/ parent subject to recommendation by the institutional scholarship committee on case to case basis along with verification of requisite documents.
